DIIVES RELEASES ‘LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE’ – 21 APRIL 2023
‘Look What You’ve Done’ is the first single from Diives forthcoming debut album, ‘Head Gone From The Neck Down’.
Written, recorded and produced by Diives in Flint, North Wales, his album tells the story of hitting an all-time low just as the global pandemic ended, the world opened up and everyone else seemed to come back to life. Instead, Diives felt he was "going down with the ship". Through a relationship break-up, sorrow, self-doubt and questioning his place in the world, Diives has created and delivered his best work yet. Anthemic pop/punk songs with emo themes, borne from a spark of defiance and energy to not let the bad times keep you down. Diives delivers heart-stopping lyrics and stuck-in-your-head music that speaks for everyone breaking out of darkness into light.
Diives: ‘Look What You’ve Done’ is a song about the way it feels after a bad break-up. Even though in the greater scheme of things, it’s not the end of the world, at the time it certainly does feel like it’s the end of YOUR world. It’s also very hard to put into words what it feels like immediately after a break-up, that’s why some of the metaphors used in the opening lines are so out there! The song is a bit different from any of my previous releases, but then I think that sets a good tone for what’s to come on this new album. The whole project veers off a little bit from what I’ve done in the past and I think ‘Look What You’ve Done’ is like the gut punch to hopefully set the scene.’
Diives’ skill for combining wonderfully crafted 3-minute gems with sing-along choruses and angst driven lyrics has drawn comparisons with DMA’s, Trampolene, Eels, Sam Fender, Smashing Pumpkins w/ influences ranging from Deftones, Nirvana + Radiohead.
