Cortney Dixon Releases 'Nobody Knows'

‘NOBODY KNOWS’ - Now available on all digital outlets

“…the same sort of songwriting gene pool as classic 70’s stuff from the likes of Carly Simon

and Fleetwood Mac…and there’s more than a touch of - whisper it – Kate Bush about this …”

The Crack

Cortney Dixon, championed by BBC Introducing in the North East as one of their Top Ten Tips for 2020, released ‘Nobody Knows’ on 3 April from the forthcoming ‘Our Intuition’ EP produced by Jim Lowe (Stereophonics/Charlatans).

‘Nobody Knows’, an organic, left-field pop song, is a stand-out track for Cortney: 'If you could take a screenshot of the inside of my brain and turn it into a piece of music, this is what you would get. This track sums me up completely at the minute!'

'Nobody Knows' is packed with catchy hooks from beginning to end but it is never anything other than honest. Using just a simple palette of instruments - Cortney’s guitar, drum pads, organ and synth - this song takes you on a roller coaster ride. The song tells the story of a person stuck in negative thought patterns that they no longer identify with, as they follow the road back to positivity - stripping away everything that once kept them in the dark.

'Nobody Knows' can be compared to the likes of Christine and The Queens and Lorde, with a bit of Kate Bush and Lana Del Ray creeping in on the choruses.

Following the success of the single's release, Cortney recorded and performed a 'stripped back' version of 'Nobody Knows' in her bedroom during lockdown. The video of the performance has received 3.8K views across social media so far and fans have asked for the version to be released as a single.

Cortney released her debut single 'Summer’s Eyes' at the end of last Summer followed by Live favourite ‘What You Wanna Do’ which sent her rapidly growing follower numbers racing.  In January 2020 came the beautiful, chilling and uplifting ‘Parliament Of Owls’ with its iconic video ramping up thousands of views on YouTube. These are the first releases from her debut EP.

She was featured as ‘Artist of the Week’ on global artist discovery platform A&R Worldwide and added to their weekly Passport Approved Playlist which is heard on more than 60 radio stations on six continents.

A prolific writer of alternative hook-laden pop songs, she loves collaborating and has sessions booked throughout 2020 with both new and established writers.

Cortney, a dynamic, unique vocalist, skilled guitarist and unmissable LIVE performer, made her international debut with her full band at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. She was due to headline Cluny 2 as part of Tipping Point Live Festival this Summer, but will look forward to performing LIVE again towards the end of the year.
