Cortney Dixon, championed by BBC Introducing in the North East as one of their ‘Top Ten Tips for 2020' releases her beautiful ‘Our Intuition’ EP, slightly delayed due to Covid 19. ‘Our Intuition’ is a collection of seven songs, including singles Cortney worked on with Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, Charlatans, Beyonce) and it celebrates the culmination of an amazing year of new releases, with lots more to follow in 2021.
The songs tell Cortney’s story of growing up in a small seaside town in the North East of England, as she came out of her teens and into her early twenties, taking inspiration from all that she’s learned and loved so far. Fusing big guitar sounds and riffs, with dramatic, lush vocal tones and contemporary indie pop production; at times uplifting and ethereal and at other times dark and dirty. Often compared to the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Billie Eilish, Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks, the debut EP’s scene-changes take you on a journey about breaking free of toxic relationships, how it feels when life doesn’t go to plan and how you improvise, make the best of things and move on.
